High School Partners
Every Green Halo scholar starts with a counselor. We partner with high schools across Chicago's western suburbs, where counselors nominate highly motivated first-generation and low-income students who would benefit most from college access and success support.
We know school counselors are stretched thin. Our partnership is built to lighten that load, not add to it, and we are grateful for everything our high school partners do to help us serve their students.
We're the first people our scholars call when barriers get in their way.

College Partners
Our college partners make an extraordinary commitment: meeting full demonstrated financial need for at least one admitted scholar from every Green Halo cohort.
And their support goes beyond funding. Partner institutions host application workshops for our scholars, cover paid campus visits so students can experience the school firsthand, and provide on-campus support once scholars matriculate.
This is why at least half of each Green Halo class attends college with full cost of attendance covered.

Community Partners
Organizations, businesses, and professionals across our community help expand what is possible for our scholars, each in their own way.
Some provide high-quality services like ACT and SAT tutoring. Others donate meeting space, meals, or supplies that make our programs and events more welcoming, accessible, and impactful. All of them share their time, resources, and expertise pro bono or at a significantly reduced cost.
Every donated hour, room, and meal is one more thing a scholar's family never has to pay for.

Our funders make it possible to provide individualized college counseling, financial aid guidance, mentoring, tutoring, test preparation, and career support, all free of charge to scholars and their families. Their generosity sustains our day-to-day work while helping us grow thoughtfully to reach more first-generation and low-income students.
Because of our funders, no scholar or family ever pays a dollar for Green Halo's support.
